Dr. Yongtao Zhao serves as the deputy dean of School of Physics, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an China. He is also the PI of the Institute of Science and Technology for Laser and Particle Beams at Xi’an Jiaotong University.
He graduated from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2000, and got phD at Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Science in 2006. He devoted himself in the fundamental research of plasma physics, high energy density physics and nuclear physics based on high power laser and particle beams. He is also interested in proton or carbon radiotherapy and internal radiotherapy based on accelerator technique.
In recent 5 years, he has published more than 30 peer reviewed scientific paper including PRL 130 (2023) 095101, PRL 126（2021）115001, Astrophys. J 920 (2021), [Nat.Comm.11 (2020) 5157, PRE 101（2020）051203 and so on.
Dr. Zhao is the Distinguished Professor of the Yangtze River Scholars Program of the Ministry of Education, the Academic Editor of the journal "Laser and Particle Beams", Guest Editor of the journal “Matter and Radiation at Extremes”, Member of the national scientific committee for High Energy Density Physics and the national scientific committee for Plasma Physics, and the committee for particle radiotherapy of China Anti-Cancer Association (CACA).
