Travel to Szeged
From the Airport
After arriving at Terminal 2A of Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport (previously called Ferihegy Airport), you can take bus No. 200E from the airport to Ferihegy train station. The Budapest-Ferihegy-Cegléd-Kecskemét-Szeged line is served by InterCity trains. A train departs from Ferihegy Station to Szeged every 60 minutes from 06:12 am to 09:12 pm. The journey between Ferihegy Station and Szeged takes 2 hours and 4 minutes.
From Budapest
If you arrive in Budapest by train or other means of transport, we recommend boarding the train at Budapest Nyugati Railway Station, where a train departs every 60 minutes between 05:50 am and 08:50 pm.
To the Airport or Budapest Nyugati Railway Station
From Szeged Railway Station, trains depart for Ferihegy/Budapest Nyugati Railway Station every 60 minutes between 05:44 am and 08:44 pm.
Tickets
When buying your train ticket, you can choose from two types of service: standard class and IC class. IC class cars have more comfortable seats and are air-conditioned. Travelling in such cars requires a supplementary ticket. You can claim a student discount if your student ID card was issued in a member state of the European Union or the European Economic Area.

From Szeged Railway Station to Hunguest Hotel Szeged
Take tram No. 2, departing in front of the railway station, to Széchenyi tér (Széchenyi Square). Once there, change to bus No. 70, 71, or 72, or trolleybus No. 5 or 6, and get off at the Torontál tér or Napfényfürdő stop. You can buy tickets on board.
The most convenient and probably the fastest, but the most expensive solution is to take a taxi to the hotel. If you choose this type of travel, we recommend the following taxi companies:

Please note that organizing and covering the costs of your transportation to Szeged are not included in the registration fee. On 4 September, after the end of the programme, we will provide a shuttle service from ELI ALPS to Budapest Liszt Ferenc Airport (departs at 1 PM). The cost of this service is included in the registration fee. If you choose not to use the shuttle service, you will need to arrange and pay for your own travel.
From Hunguest Hotel Szeged to ELI ALPS
In Szeged, ELI ALPS building can be accessed by buses 71 and 72. In Újszeged, you can get on the bus at Napfényfürdő or Torontál Square (P + R), and in downtown Széchenyi Square, Centrum or Mars Square. You should get off the bus at Öthalmi Diáklakások, from which there is a 5-10 minute walk to the ELI building.
Buses marked 79 will be put in service on the Mars tér (Mikszáth K. u.) - Rheinmetall - Mars tér route via ELI (some buses, marked “e”, will only run to ELI).
The price of the pre-purchased ticket is 470 HUF, while the ticket purchased at the driver costs 650 HUF. Purchase of a line ticket is available at ticket store pavilions, grocery stores, national tobacconists and vending machines.
