This engaging workshop is designed to demonstrate that any researcher can apply for beamtime at a large-scale research facility.
Guided by experts from the ELI ERIC Scientists and User Office, participants will be divided into teams and taken through the entire beamtime application process — from formulating an experimental idea, drafting a proposal, and understanding the evaluation process, to the final allocation of beamtime. Through role-playing and team-based activities, you will gain insight into how decisions on beamtime allocation are made and what it takes to become a successful user.
The following scientific topics will be offered within the workshop:
- Laser Wakefield Acceleration Experiments: From Source Development to Real-World Applications
- Laser Plasma Physics – The Universe in a Nutshell: From Collective Effects to Fusion
- Radiobiological Effects of Laser-Accelerated Particles
- Pump probe experiment from XUV (10 nm) to THz (40 microns)
- Plasma physics and Ultra-High Intensity laser-matter interaction
Requirements: Please bring your own laptop.
