ELI - Germany Research Workshop Series: Innovations and Mechanisms in Radiotherapy

Innovations and Mechanisms in Radiotherapy workshop will take place on 22–23 January 2026 at the Garching Research Center (Forschungszentrum) near Munich, Germany. The event will bring together researchers from the German scientific community and representatives of the Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) facilities to showcase accelerator facilities - both established and emerging - based on conventional and laser-driven technologies, together with related cutting-edge radiobiology activities that support the translation of novel radiotherapy modalities such as radioimmunotherapy, FLASH, MBT, VHEE, and BNCT.

By connecting ELI’s advanced laser-driven facilities with Germany’s leading radiobiology and accelerator research, the workshop aims to identify synergies and shape future directions in next-generation radiotherapy.

The programme will feature scientific presentations, facility highlights, and discussion sessions, offering participants an opportunity to present their research achievements, infrastructures, and future experimental needs. It will also include an overview of relevant initiatives and facilities across Germany and technologies available at ELI sites in Czechia, Hungary, and Romania, fostering an exchange of expertise and new collaborative ideas.

The workshop is planned as a small event focusing on the exchange - an active engagement of participants by providing short presentations - is strongly encouraged.

A joint dinner is planned after the first day of the workshop to encourage additional networking.

This workshop is part of a series aimed at strengthening collaboration between ELI and the German research community, as well as promoting participation in ELI's User Programme.
