Description
With the ever-increasing energies of particle acceleration for physics research, the radiation-induced failures become a prominent issue limiting the productivity of CERN's accelerator complex operation. Over the years, different approaches for the radiation-tolerant electronic designs have been consolidated into the Radiation Hardness Assurance (RHA) guidelines, progressively adopted by different design teams. As of 2026, the radiation testing activities at CERN expand beyond the internal needs, through the provision of electronics irradiation infrastructure to external users, in the frameworks of international EU RADNEXT and HEARTS projects.
