Education and training are core missions of ELI, ensuring the long-term sustainability of our scientific community. The ELI Student Seminar Series is a programme designed to bring together PhD students from all three ELI Facilities for regular bi-weekly sessions. These seminars held as a satellite activity to ELISS2025 provide an opportunity to share research, exchange knowledge, and strengthen connections across disciplines and institutions. By participating, students gain valuable experience in presenting their work, engaging in scientific discussions, and developing key professional skills.
The ELI Student Seminar Series aims to provide a platform for PhD students to:
- present their research in a collaborative and constructive environment
- receive valuable feedback from peers
- gain exposure to research taking place at all ELI Facilities
- improve presentation and discussion skills
- build a network of fellow students and potential collaborators
- develop critical thinking through Q&A sessions and discussions
The seminar series held every two weeks in May and June 2025 is primarily designed for PhD students at ELI Beamlines, ELI ALPS, and ELI Nuclear Physics. However, BSc and MSc students, as well as postdoctoral researchers and early-career scientists are also encouraged to attend. The series aims to create a strong and supportive student network across all ELI facilities.
How to Participate
All ELI students are welcome to join the seminars. Details on each seminar session will be provided by local organizers at each ELI facility.
PhD students interested in presenting their research can submit an abstract. Please note that only PhD students can give a talk.
Presenters are encouraged to prepare engaging and accessible talks suitable for a broad scientific audience.
Speaker Guidelines
This series of PhD student seminars offers ELI PhD students an opportunity to showcase their research and advance their scientific network. We ask PhD students who want to use this platform to register and submit the presentation title and abstract (up to 200 words) as soon as possible and no later than on 18.04.2025.
A time allocation for every presentation is 15 minutes, followed by a 5-minute moderated discussion session. Each session includes 3 talks, each by a speaker from a different ELI facility.
The deadline for speaker registration and abstract submission is April 18th.
After the submission of the abstract, participants will be informed if a proposed abstract is selected for the presentation. Later, speakers will be contacted by the local organizer to settle the details and schedule.
Please note that sessions will not be recorded or accessible after the seminars.
Presenters who want to make presentation materials available online, please contact local organizers.
Seminar Schedule

ELISS2025
Students are encouraged to participate in the ELI Summer School (ELISS2025), taking place on 25–29 August 2025 at ELI Beamlines. The summer school provides a unique opportunity for students to meet in person, engage in hands-on training, and learn from leading experts in laser physics and related fields. Students participating in the seminar series are strongly encouraged to attend ELISS as part of their professional development.
